Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
We recognise that learning can occur through previous study, work experience, professional practice, industry training, and life experiences.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows students to apply for credit towards a programme where they can demonstrate that they have already achieved some or all of the required learning outcomes.
RPL may be granted for relevant qualifications, formal training, professional certifications, workplace experience, or other evidence of prior learning gained through recognised education providers or industry practice.
Who Can Apply?
Anyone who believes they have already gained the knowledge, skills, or competencies covered within a course or programme may apply for RPL.
All applicants must still meet the programme entry requirements and provide sufficient evidence to support their application.
How to Apply
Applications should be submitted at least four weeks before the programme start date to allow adequate time for assessment.
Supporting evidence may include:
- Academic transcripts and certificates
- Professional qualifications and certifications
- Employment records and references
- Portfolios of work
- Evidence of relevant industry experience
All RPL applications are individually assessed to determine whether the learning outcomes of the programme have been met.
